The human being has never stopped pursuing justice since the human society came into being. Without question, justice is one of the most important virtues. What is justice? Whose justice? Many philosophers gave us diverse answers to justice. In brief, the justice means fairness and the proportional penalty or reward. However, that people are pursuing justice unremittingly means that justice is a kind of ideal virtue that cannot be well realized. Although justice is a kind of ideal virtue, it can still be realized in the real society to a certain extent. Thus we need an operational theory serve as guidance. Many philosophers are engaged in this work, including the famous scholar—John Rawls. He published his world-known works called A Theory of Justice. This book embodies the endeavor that people want to find an operational theory. However, his theory is confined to social resources, which do not reflect the difference when different people convert their resources into capability. Moreover, his justification for justice is based abstract assumption. Amartya Sen, an Indian scholar, solves this problem better. He expands the information space of justice and proposes the principle of weak equity. His theory is worth discussing. This dissertation tries to describe his justification for justice, sketch the operational aspect of justice and discuss its impact on social development. The dissertation consists of four parts. In the first part, I will introduce the information space of justice. In the second part, I will describe the context of justice. In the third part, I will discuss the means by which justice is realized, and in the final part, I will discuss the advantage and disadvantage of this justice theory. We will get further knowledge on freedom, fairness, and social justice through our research on Sen's theory. Our research will be also helpful to solve social disparity in income and the social disparity in substantive freedom. This research can also prevent the undeveloped nation from aiming at the economic development without considering people's living conditions. This research is meaningful not only because it has great academic value but also because it will affect our life.
