As the winner of Nobel economical price in 1998, Amartya Sen got a high reputation in the fields of economy, philosophy and ethnics by his valuable researches in economical philosophy, economical ethnics and developing economy. Amartya Sen's capability approach and development as freedom methods provide us a new view of economy ethnics. Capability approach regards freedom as its philosophical essence. The essence of capability approach holds that human beings enjoy practical freedom which helps them to enjoy their cherished life. This kind of freedom includes not only constructive moral level but also instrumental level; it consists of political freedoms, economic facilities, social opportunities, transparent guarantees and protective security. Capability approach holds freedom of plurality, and it insists integration of internal freedom and instrumental freedom and declares that both of them have their own importance.The article begins with the background of the production of Amartya Sen's freedom philosophy. Upon the effects of Marx and Adam smith's economy ethnics, Amartya Sen defined his own freedom that it is a practical freedom, a capability approach which helps them to enjoy their cherished life. The capability approach is settled as a main line to open the detailed analysis of freedom and equality, freedom and development. Freedom as a foundation of human being's equality and development is a trend in future harmonious world.Amartya Sen's freedom philosophy not only combines again the economy and ethnics, but also confirms freedom is the target and instrument of human development. It enlarges the development scale from narrow financial rise to human freedom and progress. However, Amartya Sen's theory still has some small shortcomings which need us continually studies and improves.
