Anti-piracy is a key subject which copyright law should be concerned with. The situation in China is obviously serious. Although considerable measures have been adopted and anti-piracy actions are operating around the country, a fundamental and systematic resolution is still needed. The primary intention of this dissertation is to consider how to resolve the music piracy in China. The methodology is mainly taken by comparing the U.K. copyright law and Chinese copyright law, as well as their anti-piracy activities. In the first part, the historical differences between two copyright law systems are specifically analysed. Four backgrounds will be provided in order to compare these differences. The second part presents comparison between two countries' copyright laws in modern times. Importantly this part will provide the comprehensive understanding of the U.K. and China's piracy issue from the day it was come out. Three models, which may solve the piracy problem, have been put forward and elaborated in the third chapter. The third one is recommended as being much more effective and practical. Finally, the conclusion acknowledges that by comparing the copyright laws of these two countries, what China currently needs to do is to find a suitable model whichfundamentally considers China's own legal, economical, cultural and technological backgrounds, and meanwhile accepts and assimilates the international experiences which are useful towards achieving copyright law's social functions and resolving the piracy issue.
