The right to know is the right that citizens , corporations and other subjects receive or apply for the information. As a new right coming about after the Second World War, it has greatly influenced the people's political , economical and personal interests because of the complication of modern society. Being appreciated more and more in the world, it has been stated in many countries' constitution as a fundamental human right. We can say that the level of law about the right to know reflects directly the scale of one country's democracy and constitutionalism.Starting from the basic questions of the right to know, combining with the current situation of our country's legal protection, referring to other countries' legal institution and legal practice, this paper gives a discussion towards our country's legal protection of the right to know. This paper includes six parts:Part one: This part explains the occurrence and development of the right to know, the concept of the right and point out that the right should be regarded as a fundamental human right.Part two: This part explains the contents of legal relationship lies in the right to know. It includes the right subjects , the obligation subjects of this right and the concrete contents of rights and obligations in the right to know.Part three: This part interprets the important role in construct our country's democracy, preventing corruption, protecting people's interests, establishing trustable and harmonious society and keeping with the world's pace. The right to know is so necessary, we must pay more attention to it.Part four: This part interprets the constraint of the right to know, it mainly tells us how to deal with the individual privacy, commercial secrecy, and country's secrecy while realizing the right to know.Part five: This part analyzes the current situation relating to the legislation of the right to know in our country based on several laws acting .now. This part also points outthe shortcoming in these laws.Part six: This part gives opinion that the right to know should be regarded as a constitutional right. Meanwhile, our country should enact or revise some laws in order to perfect the protection and establish the system of the right to know.
