University Intellectuals In The New Era Of Social Change Of Roles

Since 1980's, along with thorough reform and open policy, chain-reactions of society transform have occurred. People's ideology, the value idea, the professional content as well as the social role have also changed subtly.When the college intellectual appears as a unique community, As is well known, college intellectuals possess rich knowledge, good speculation ability and the strong potential on innovation, However, for a long they had been constrained in their colleges, the so called "besieged city" , their ability and talent were not exerted completely. Therefore, as social transforms occurring, college intellectual community gradually drifts out of the university and melts into to the more open social life domain.Refer to the new choice of college intellectual, it is necessary to clarify whether it had already become the inevitable trend of the changing social role, and analysis the intrinsic reason of this tendency, at the same time outlined the main characters of this tendency. Finally, on behalf of the colleges, the college intellectual and the entire society, I propose a corresponding strategy to enables the intellectuals' to exert their ability to the largest degree, therefore making more contribution for the construction and the development of our country in the new era.Based on the above mentality, this article will divide into four parts:First chapter summarized the overall tendency since the college intellectual's social role has changing, meanwhile, separately elaborated specialties of two periods, which is from the middle 1980s to later 1990s and the period until today.Second chapter analyzed three elements which have influenced the intellectual's social role, they are the universities interior, the universities periphery as well as the intellectual individual. This chapter elaborated on the micro level why the social role of college intellectual had changed.Third chapter explained the essential way of college intellectual's social role changes by the way of their participating in the politics, the economical and cultural domains.Fourth chapter putted forward a proposal of establishing the knowledge circulation between the university and the society.
