The biggest pollution substance in the sea comes from oil and oil pollution from vessels shared most proportion among the same. The damage caused by vessel's oil pollution can be very serious, it badly destroy the ecosystem and human's economic activities. With the economy development, annual increase of the petroleum import and more frequency of the sea transportation of oil, the Oil Pollution becomes a big problem we have to face. However, China does not have an integrated legal system regarding Oil Pollution from Vessels, so it is significantly important to reinforce the juristic research of Compensation on Oil Pollution Damage in China.By comparison with various international oil pollution conventions and some examples of advanced countries' domestic legislation, the author is trying to expatiate on the jurisprudence of Compensation on Oil Pollution Damage. Meanwhile, through enumerating status in quo of our domestic compensation of oil pollution damage from vessels and our domestic related legislation, the author has listed some insufficiency and made some comments on how to improve Chinese compensation system of oil pollution from vessels.This article consists of four chapters.Chapter 1, the author discussed some basic conceptions under the topic of Compensation of Oil Pollution Damage from Vessels.Chapter 2, the author studied the legal system of international oil pollution compensation, which consists of CLC (International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage) and FUND (International Convention on the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund), and its legislation development. In the meantime, 2001 International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage has also been introduced by the author, as well as such legal system in some representative countries like United States, Canada and United Kingdom.
