Public trial is an essential characteristic of modern judicial system. In China, with the gradual advance of the construction of democracy and the rule of law, with people's realization of human right strengthened, we are making more and more requests for the public trial, especially for criminal public trial. However, there are many problems in the implementation of public trial. This thesis will systematically talk about the history of legislation for criminal public trial, the contents of criminal public trial and the exception of criminal public trial from criminal justice's point of view, in order to make some better advice for the criminal public trial of China.This thesis is about 37, 000 words. Except preface, the body is made up of four parts, whose structures and contents are as follows:The first part is the history and status of legislation of criminal public trial. This part begins with the origin of the criminal public trial, puts emphasis on the evolution of it and demonstrates the twists and turns in the produce and development of it in China.The second part is about the contents of criminal public trial, which is the core of the whole thesis. Beginning with the meaning of public trial and also showing various views about public trial of different scholars, this part discusses general meaning of public trial and explores some problems of the publicity to the client.I hold the view that the publicity to the client is a significant content in the criminal public trial in this thesis.
