As a military organization in the conventional meaning, after the end of the cold war and the collapse of the Warsaw Treaty, NATO still exists. However, NATO itself is conducting profound transition: from a military alliance to a political and security community. In this process, NATO constantly spreads democracy and freedom value to the eastern and middle European countries, it democratizes these countries, rebuilds their new identities and security ideas. This socialization process puts great influence to the middle and eastern countries in many aspects. This thesis will analyze the NATO's socialization to the middle and eastern counties to explain function's political transition of NATO and the effects of this process to these countries. |
