Isaiah·Berlin, who is one of the 20th century's most prestigious liberal thinkers, reverted to the classical liberalism of the basic idea, and built it on the basis of pluralism. However, only a small part of his books are devoted to the liberalism, the majority of his books are about the Review of a thinker, or about a traditional thinking in-depth mining; or Marxism and the Enlightenment, Jewish, nationalism and so on .If we do a simplistic categorization for the background of Berlin thinking ,we can found that his thinking actually comes from three different spiritual traditions: the Russian tradition, Jewish traditions and the British tradition . His early years in three different traditional and his thinking .reading and researching of the three traditional in his later life, formed all the basic tendencies of Berlin: the strongly rejecting of the violence and war; the protecting to survive and calm life. It is in this basic orientation on the basis of his works formed the idea of a few major themes: the rejecting of the rationalism , the sense of realism and freedom.In Berlin opion, the core of Western metaphysics is a strong tendency to irrational one yuan, and it built up in such a world view on: the entire world is a unified and harmoniou. The world subjects to some general principles -Unchanged, universal eternal and universal principles .All the problems of human society in general are based on the principles of a final settlement. Berlin pointed out that this is not the reality, the reality is differences and unique. It is our common life experience with infinite complexity and richness. The abstract theory have to ignore and cut to ensure the integrity of its own abstract theories and systems. It will bring the danger of war and violence.Berlin advocated "realistic", it is a kind of capacity and "insight" for which understanding and awareness, through "resurrection" the environmental and "input" real emotion to history, and it is also a kind of integrating and instinctive capacity that base on all kinds of personal and social life, a kind of wisdom that based on true experience of life, a "improvisation play" capability. It is "realistic" that make Berlin realize that the core values of human society are pluralistic; they do not have any same nature or purpose, neither including each other. Absolute freedom, "without interference", does not exist, which on the basis of pluralism, the real freedom must be limit freedom. Therefore, the core issues of liberal to discuss should be: demarcating boundary between the private life area and public authority. To this question, human rights is Berlin's answer, which can be fixed by compromise and balance in practice. In Berlin's works, realistic, negative freedom even as one body. The purpose of this paper is clarification this ideal through reading Berlin's works.
