Study Of Sun Yat-sen People's Livelihood And Socialist Ideology

Sun Yat-sen proposed the slogan"to invigorate the Chinese nation"first. And he also devoted his lifetime to the great cause of invigorating the Chinese nation. Sun Yat-Sen is the first person who took"people's livelihood"as a philosophical category to use. People's Livelihood is the destination of Three Principles of the People. It's the most unique and important part in his thought. He established the People's Livelihood theoretically, and formulated concrete methods and plans practically to realize the ideals of socialism. It's foresightedness and practicality.Based on China's national conditions, Socialism of People's Livelihood of Sun Yat-sen has always been permeated with two clues: On the one hand, to carry on large-scale production using the capital and machines to promote the development of social production and achieve prosperity of the country. On the other hand, to eliminate the exploitation and oppression to realize the socialism goals of equality, freedom and happyness of all the people.The paper is divided into four parts. In chapterⅠ, I will explain the backgrounds and origins of People's Livelihood briefly. The backgrounds were economic backwardness, people's poverty, suffering the aggression of imperialist in colonial and semi-colonial China; material progress, but polarization of the rich and the poor, the contradictory intensification, repeated outbreaks of social revolutions in western capitalist society. He has absorbed the Datong thought of China in ancient times and a variety of western socialisms, scientific socialism of Marx specially, and established Socialism of People's Livelihood with Chinese characteristics.The content of chapterⅡis a deep research about the connotation of Socialism of People's Livelihood. Sun Yat-sen exposed and criticized capitalist deeply. But he didn't deny that the production was developed, the society was prosperous and the civilization was progressive in capitalist society. From the national conditions of weak country and poor people, he pointed out that we must avoid"the evil", and take"the good results". Social revolution in China was easier. China could take advantage of the positive achievements of capitalism, across the stage of capitalism, and enter socialist society. He proposed the idea to develop the productive forces. We should focus on the use of technology and machinery, attach importance to education and training."People's Livelihood is Socialism". The Chinese economy was backward, so it's impossible to realize communism immediately. We must build socialism to grow the production and accumulate the wealth to lay the foundation for communist society. The socialist goal he pursued was that the country was prosperous and powerful, everybody was free and equal, and would construct and share together.The chapterⅢcontains specific methods and plans of Socialism of People's Livelihood. It boiled down to two issues to solve social problems: land and capital. For the land issue, he proposed the slogans"equalization of the land ownership"and"land to the tiller". For capital, he proposed to restraint and encourage the development of private capital, and what's more, to develop the country's capital. So he formulated"the industrial plan"to make a wealthy country. Simultaneously we must use the foreign capital positively for the development of China. This part is still permeated with two goals: ensuring the prosperity of the country out of backwardness, and making people rich to prevent the polarization of the rich and the poor.The chapterⅣis a concise elaboration of the significance of Socialism of People's Livelihood. It has significance for the New Democracy Theory of Mao Zedong and the Chinese Characteristic Socialism Theory of Deng Xiaoping. Sun Yat-sen is the earliest discusser of socialism, moreover, he is the first designer of the construction of Socialism of People's Livelihood in China. His historical viewpoint of People's Livelihood cann't be considered simply as historical idealism. It included rich ingredients of historical materialism and practical materialism. Socialism of People's Livelihood of Sun Yat-Sen is the embryonic theory of Chinese Characteristic Socialism. We need to unearth its beneficial ideas unceasingly. His thoughts also has certain practical significance for paying attention to the people's livelihood and building socialism harmonious society.Certainly, Socialism of People's Livelihood of Sun Yat-sen is not perfect. What we need is the scientific spirit and the attitude of seeking truth from facts. We should absorb the beneficial components, and consummate the Chinese Characteristic Socialism Theory, and continue to develop it in practice.
