China's Opening up and Reform Policy achieved great success and an impact on human beings' history, which arises the common interests and attention at home and broad. The research on the features and forms of China's reform has becomes a significant international project. It is important, therefore, to have self-examination of the problems of China's reform at different angles as well as collect the good experience in order to further the research on socialism with Chinese characteristics. In a very long period, the research in China superficially introduced, translated the papers abroad or analyzed the single scholars'theory more than commentating on the important theories and the issues in practice. Accordingly, this paper, under the guide of the basic theory, tries to collect as more as possible the document both home and abroad and make an objective analysis on foreign scholars' researches on China's reform, expecting provide a supplementary illustration.Section 1 reviews the achievements of researches on China's reform and introduces the paper's significance in both theory and practice.Section 2 focuses on the motives of foreign scholars interested in this subject. This section offers 4 motives:1. the global impact of China's reform; 2. concerns about the future of socialism; 3. expectation of collecting experience for developing countries who are make efforts to realize modernization; 4. serve the interests of their own country.Section 3, the main section of the paper, illustrates the foreign scholars'researches on characteristics of China's reform. This section, choosing four different opinions, analyses the the approaches, the features and the significance of foreign scholars'reseaches:1. the necessity of China's reform; 2. the debate on the properties and classification of China's reform.; 3. the post-socialism in China; 4. the contradiction on market socialism.Section 4 represents the foreign scholars'research on the forms of China's reform, which is a popular subject in academy at present. This section chooses 3 issues:1. from'Beijing consensus'to 'China model'; 2. comments on China's tendency of Latin-Americanization; 3. foreign scholars' research on China's political reform.The last section focuses on the enlightenment given by the foreign scholars'research, the academic significance of the paper, and the importance of applying the basic theories of Marxism to academic research.
