Subtle adjustments and modifications occur to nation states as well as their respective national interest. Upon the foundation of PRC, especially entering into the era of open-up and reform, China has been making its endeavor to integrating its offshore interest in international community, either actively or positively, expanding its outreach to seek for benefits continuously. Due to the complicated conditions affecting a nation's overall interest, China's abroad interest presents itself with diversified modes, various deterrents, flexible protective mechanism and farreaching implications. Given the great strikes made in over 30 years'development, domestically and internationally, promising prospects could be expected on one hand, threats and challenges are accompanied on the other. Although strong response from the government has been made to prevent against multiple dangers, more effective strategies and measures are still in great need to cope with all potential risks. This article examines academic research of China's overseas national interest conducted by the scholars from home and abroad, offers an analytical view to China's foreign interest development and safeguarding since 1949, summarizing the dangers ahead, putting forwards policy suggestions for containing the deterrents confronted. To deter the current overseas problems and challenges and defend China's overseas interest,I propose that China should introduce China's development mode to the world, get involved in the institutional arrangements referring to foreign activities, and reinforce its navy power. In regard of the academic study in this area, more study should be conducted to interpret abroad interest conceptions, summarize experience of western countries in safeguarding their own foreign interest, engage in more quantitative and case study.
