Hannah Arendt believes that everything appearing to us belongs to the world of phenomena, and all belong to phenomena. Unlike Descartes "I think" philosophy——that everything in the world are in my thinking, and also differs from Kant's division of phenomena and thing-in-itself, Arendt thinks that the subject is also the object, and the common characteristic of all the things is manifestation. To some extent, Arendt carries out the political shift of phenomenology. She considers that the nature of public is political, and only in the public realm can people disclose and expose themselves. Obviously, Husserl's phenomenology is partial theory, even if his latter's concept "life-world" is the foundation of true understanding and rigorous scientific and has no even the slightest political implications. Heidegger has pointed out the concept of "being-with", but he believes that it was the "non-authentic" form of being, and it should be subject to the higher "thinking" of life. In Arendt's opinion, understanding the world of phenomena means that we trying to find the characteristics of the world——people are "in-between" the world. The purport of her phenomenology is to make the realm of public affairs show up clearly and try to capture the inner meaning of public events. Her three divisions of human fundamental activities as well as the concept of public realm are original, and we can see from the analysis of the construction of her political thought the using of phenomenological method. Arendt deeply focuses on the political reality, analyses the root causes of totalitarianism, and calls on people to participate in politics to raise political awareness and show the specific uniqueness of one's self to form the web of human relationships.
