From a sociological perspective, this paper examines the ordinary view of familial happiness and distinguishes the differences that may exist in a respresentative of 1000 persons in Lanzhou.It is found that more than half of respondents (52%) believe that harmonious and unitive family is happy, nearly forty percent respondents believe that family with certain economic base is happy (39.1%).Cluster analysis displays six kinds of view of familial happiness,of which"economic fundamentals-based"view of familial happiness shares the largest(29.1%).Women that hold"understanding and respect"view of familial happiness are nearly 4 percentage points higher than men.Urban respondents that hold"economic fundamentals-based"view of familial happiness are nearly 16 percentage points lower than rural respondents, while those who hold"understanding and respect"view of familial happiness are nearly 11 percentage points higher than rural respondents. Never divorced respondents that hold"economic fundamentals-based"view of familial happiness are 17 percentage points higher than ever divorced ones, while those who hold"understanding and respect"view of familial happiness are nearly 11 percentage points lower than ever divorced ones.It is concluded that there are different kinds of view of familial happiness exsit in different areas, education,gender and divorce or not. Firstly, rural respondents hold more"economic fundamentals-based"view of familial happiness,while urban respondents hold more"comprehensive and considerate","thoughtful and interdependent","understanding and respect"view of familial happiness. Secondly, higher educational level means more"comprehensive and considerate","understanding and respect"view of familial happiness. Thirdly,women hold more"understanding and respect"view of familial happiness than men. Fouthly, those ever divorced respendents hold less"economic fundamentals-based"view of familial happiness, but more"understanding and respect"view of familial happiness.
