Continuing Education started after the Reform and Opening and has been rapidly developing since. Its notion was first noticed and discussed by the education field. With the arrival of the knowledge-based economy, the continuing updates of knowledge and the non-stopping development of technology, the era of continuing education is yet to come. Continuing Education will eventually take over Adult Education's position and play a vital role.Continuing Education is a part of Education. However, studies on non-diploma education and continuing education is rare to find. A small part of the current education studies belongs to the studies of costs and benefits of Adult Education.Through the studies on the current continuing education situations of various institutes both abroad and at home combined with the actual situation of KUST (Kunming University of Science and Technology), this article analyses the cost structure and benefit form of continuing education in tertiary institutes, borrows educational economic theories and methods and modifies the original model based on methods of probing, analyzing and borrowing in order to apply it to the analysis of costs and benefits of continuing education. In the meanwhile, this article also uses economics, management, accounting theories to widely apply all kinds of analyzing theories and models to further analyze the costs and benefits of continuing education. The author uses yearly and program category methods to analyze costs and benefits of continuing education based on the actual situation of KUST Continuing Education. During the analysis, the author uses costs, amount and benefit analyzing methods to categorize and analyze the costs and benefits of continuing education.
