In the autumn of 2001, the new curriculum reform of basic education was carried out in 38 national experimental areas; in the autumn of 2004, the new curriculum reform stepped into the comprehensive promoted stage. The curriculum reform key lies in the implementation. Teacher, who is the direct participant of the curriculum implementation, is an important element on whether the new curriculum reform carried on smoothly, so the teacher is the key aspect to the new curriculum reform's success or failure, and will influence new curriculum reform trend finally. Therefore, teacher's adaptation situation immediately influences curriculum reform's promoted quality. According to the domestic and foreign related research, I carried out a survey of primary school English teachers" adaptation to the new curriculum as well as teaching practice problems, and then analyzed deeply the factors that affect the adaptability of primary school English teacher, so to bring forward some suggestions to further promote the primary school teacher's adaptability.The study investigate and study the primary school English teachers from the four different types school of Xi'an through the queationnaire survey method and interview, the investigation includes new curriculum approval, new curriculum familiarity, new teaching material adaptability, new teaching behavior adaptability, new study adapatability, new appraisal way adaptability, new training way adaptability aspects and so on, the study analyzed and compared with the teacher's adaptation from the sex, age, teaching experience, major, education background, professional title and so on.The study concluded as follow:The primary school English teachers support to the new curriculum reform, that's to say, in gengral, most English teachers have certain adaptability to the new curriculum, especially in the new curriculum approval and new curriculum familiarity.In view of the above analysis, the paper proposes the corresponding countermaeasure and suggestions:1. Teachers should enhance their self-study and improve their quality structure;2. Teachers should enhance communication with other teachers and other schools;3. Make good use of different kinds of resource;4. Improve the teacher's training work, including the training way's diversification and so on;5. Reform the test evaluation system and strive for full-round support and coordination.
