Rural Teachers' Self-directed Learning Strategy Research

With the central government attaching importance to education in rural areas, some rural schools have improved their school environment and the salary of the teachers has gone up. In addition to these improvements, we should put emphasis on the professional level of the teachers in rural areas, taking appropriate professional training for them, and encouraging them to learn by themselves. It is necessary to take learning strategies in self-directed learning, which can help them reduce the time , improve the efficiency and the quality of learning.This study surveyed the information about the rural teachers learning, analyzed the problems during their learning process and found that self-directed learning is an appropriate way to promote teachers'learning . The author reviewed the theories about self-directed learning at home and abroad, analyzed those studies on the self-directed learning strategies. To further understand , the author conducted a survey . According to teachers'learning theory and interviews, the author developed a questionnaires, which investigated the professional communication, reflective and practice, professional planning, observe learning, study from a teacher and critical thinking six learning strategies , found that there was a significance difference between all kinds of rural teachers in self-directed learning strategies, but there are common features that they prefer to choose professional exchanges rather than critical thinking. According to the survey, the authors obtained the conclusion that limited learning resources, learning atmosphere and awareness can affected the learning strategies.On the base of the survey and the results , the author suggested the way to promoting self-directed learning strategies ,which is to conduct some guidance strategies ,build a good platform ,provide variety learning resource and strength the training. Then the research also encourage the rural teachers to set up right learning idea ,make good use of learning resources and take the initiative to use learning strategies.In conclusion, the author has systematically explored the theories of directed learning of teachers in rural areas , studied the better ways for them, and pointed out the future research in this field.
