The subject takes rural adult learning in China as the logic start point, the newcountryside, the learning society, and the whole life education system building as theactual setting. The study selects self-directed learning as the theme, which is the mostimportant and basic element. This paper takes the rural youth in Zibo city as researchsubject. The study focuses on finding a learning model that in line with their actualand requiring, and on this basis, try to select a realistic way which is both necessaryand possible to help the rural youth to change their disadvantaged condition in sociallife. The study also tries to provide a new perspective for the rural adult learning fromthe theory and practice.The study explains the intension of rural youth’s self-directed learning firstly,and then by taking questionnaires and interviews, with relevant literatures, toconclude the advantage and practical problem in rural youth’s self-directed learning,at last analyze the influencing factors, puts forward the corresponding policyproposals for the rural youth.The article is divided into five main chapters. The first chapter is the introduction.In this chapter, the study shows the explanation about the background, meaning andresearch methods, and the core concept; In the second chapter, it reviews the studyabout rural adult learning; In the third chapter, the paper explains the essential point ofthe rural youth,including the analysis of the core and essential factor, and the analysisof the social mechanism.The forth chapter presents a detailed investigation finding,concludes the advantage and practical problem in rural youth’s self-directed learning;The fifth chapter analyses the influence in the rural youth’s self-directed learningfrom both outside and inside. The outside factors includes public consciousness, inputof fund, learning resources and the appraisal system; the inside factors includes theideology of self-directed learning, the mind of self-directed learning and the behaviorof self-directed learning. The sixth chapter puts forward some policy proposals for therural youth from tow sides, one is to enhance the ability of self-directed learning, theother is to perfect outside measures. The proposals provide a feasible way for theadult learning from the theory to the practice. The last part is a conclusion about thestudy and made a deep rethinking.
