The Internet of Things, with IoT as its abbreviation, is an emerging information industry after Computer, Internet and Mobile Industry. With an integrative application of such technologies as RFID, WSN, Naono-Technology and Smart-Technology, IoT aims for Smart Identification, Real-Time Localization, Tracking, Controlling and Management. It features as Pervasive Sensing, Reliable Transmission and Smart Treatment. With the trend of Globalization, a world-renowned university requires not only world-renowned Resources but also world-renowned Management. Lab is the most important area inside the campus for teaching and scientific work. Therefore, the management level of a lab directly represents the whole university's management capacity and furthermore, it definitely will influence its Globalization pace.Currently, Various kinds of measurements are taken to manage the labs in universities, e.g. completion of the management rules, ID labels of main facilities, investment of huge operation fees, recruitment of abundant technical and managerial members. Somehow, all the above-mentioned means, which relies either on manual controlling or on system supervision, can not fundamentally realize the automation and intelligence management of the labs inside universities. How to manage the lab efficiently? Are there better ways to manage a lab? What kind of management measurement we may adopt? Is this measurement feasible, technically and economically? These are the focuses of this thesis.Firstly, this thesis briefs us on something about IoT including its definition, history, status, key technologies and its development potential. Secondly, the thesis introduces us the definition, tasks, mission and traditional management means of the labs inside universities. In this part, it defines the seven management targets of the labs and also orders them according to their importance. Then, with the ABC category measurement in the field of Economics, it separates the labs into various categories according to its resources value which includes facility, human resources, experimental materials, etc.. Besides, it analyzes the deficits of all traditional management measurements considering the above-mentioned seven targets. Thirdly, the thesis analyzes the feasibility of the application of IoT Tech. in labs management. The thesis analyzes the tech not only from the technology itself but also from the software and hardware investment perspective. The thesis also proposes a SWOT table of this application. Besides, it also examples us its application situation in universities both inside and outside China. At the end, the thesis proposes a creative management program for the labs by applying IoT technology. It introduces us the proposal with three parts: hardware, software, system and model. As for the hardware, it mainly composes the tag, the reader, the wireless access and the central operation system. As for the software, it includes the main controlling system and several coordinating subsystems. Besides, the thesis also forecasts the potential and the merits of this application. The development of a new technology requires bold application. IoT will definitely open a new chapter for Management as efficient, informative, real-time, automatic and smart.
