"Statistics and probability" as one of the four main content of the compulsoryeducation stage mathematics curriculum, in training students’ comprehensivemathematics plays an important role. Countries pay more and more attention to thispart of knowledge learning, therefore "statistics and probability" teaching research hasimportant practical significance.In this paper, first of all, the study of statistical probability teaching at home andabroad were reviewed and the simple comb, and sums up the predecessors’ study ofexisting research in statistical probability of primary and secondary schools. On thisbasis, to junior high school students (with a focus on the ninth graders) as the researchobject, in the form of a questionnaire for junior middle school student to carry on theinvestigation and study, the data collected by sorting out and analyzing explored thejunior middle school students "statistics and probability" of the status quo, researchshows that:1. The junior middle school students "statistics and probability" knowledgebasically meet the requirements of the class markTo some basic concepts (mainly refers to the median, mode, poor, mean, variance,probability, etc.) students can accurately and understand its meaning. In actualproblem situation, the students with the aid of statistical charts, solve some simplepractical problem, students can poor, variance and standard deviation is used todescribe a set of discrete data, according to the statistical results and makes thereasonable judgments, can draw tree or column form of simple method to calculatethe probability of random events. In a word, junior middle school students’ mastery of"statistics and probability" basically meets the requirements of the course target, havea certain ability to deal with problems.2. The concept of "statistics and probability" weak in junior high school studentsAlthough the junior middle school students have mastered the basic concept of"statistics and probability", but students lack from the perspective of statistics toanalyze and solve problems of consciousness, and mostly not experienced the whole process of statistics, including find that the problem, the design scheme, collect data,to describe the data, analyze data and make reasonable decision, etc. Even for accessto the statistics of life, nor to the data source, data processing method, and the resultsare reasonable.Through to the junior middle school students learning difficulties "statistics andprobability" investigation and analysis, this study put forward on the teaching ofjunior middle school "statistics and probability" related countermeasures and thinking.
