With the progress of the times, people have a stronger desire for knowledge. Nevertheless, because of the limitation of time, space and conditions, it is difficult for people to take extra time to learn in the classroom. With the continuous development of technology, network and new learning concepts, microlearning emerges as the times require, and as the core content of microlearning, microlecture have gradually entered the vision of researchers. Microlecture is a small, fragmented learning content, the learners can learn it online or with mobile device. This research is based on the concept of microlearning, and it wants to introduce "microlecture" into the the design of teaching material. We will use the intelligent teaching system as the carrier to do practical research, and to explore the teaching efficacy of microlecture in teaching.Firstly, this paper discusses the concepts and the domestic and foreign research about the intelligent teaching system, microlearning and microlecture. We also discuss the textbook compilation and teachers’teaching about "the mystery of the composition of matter". Secondly, we summarize the knowledge points related to "the mystery of the composition of matter", and design and make a series of micro lecture based on the summarized knowledge points. Finally, we collect the related exercises and input all these materials in the intelligent teaching system.We choose three classes to do practical research, and divide it into three phases: the first phase is using exercise questionnaires to check the numbers of knowledge points which the students has already known about "the mystery of the composition of matter". The second phase is choosing two of the three classes to learn microlecture with the intelligent teaching system. The third phase is using exercise questionnaires again to check knowledge that the students of three classes has already known.The results show that students can grasp the knowledge of "the mystery of the composition of matter" better, it proves that it is possible to use microlecture to teach chemistry. The intelligent teaching system can help students obtain new knowledge and review the old knowledge.
