With the rapid development of science and technology and the new curriculum reform, robotics education is becoming a focus of attention of educators. The"high school technology curriculum standards (experimental)"issued by the Ministry of Education proposed "simple robot made" as one of the general technical education course, which marks robot education into the high school classroom. In the background of STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), what is the relationship between such an emerging technology education curriculum with the engineering education, what is the effect it have on the development of students thinking, and how to improve the robot teaching in order to develop the students’engineering thinking, these problems to be solved need us to study and discuss.Through extensive reading literature, observation and in-depth interview, robotics education in general high school cultivated the students’engineering thinking was researched. First of all, this thesis analyses the elements and the main features of engineering thinking. Engineering thinking includes engineering decision thinking, engineering design thinking, engineering implement thinking, and engineering assess thinking. The characteristics of engineering thinking are science, integration, reality, and creativity. Then, the relationships between the robot teaching and engineering thinking have been analyzed, which can be divided into the following four parts: Firstly, the open teaching objectives make it possible to train engineering thinking. Secondly, the comprehensive of teaching content is closely links with engineering thinking. Thirdly, the plasticity of teaching equipment creates conditions for engineering thinking. Fourthly, the reality of the teaching process makes the cultivation of engineering thinking realized.On this basis of constructivist theory, construction of Papert and engineering methodology guidance, robot teaching has been designed. The purpose is to train students’engineering thinking. The strategy is LBD. The teaching subject is "motor driving system". The teaching cases are "catapult","dual motor drive car", and "barrier project". Then, Nanjing X High School was chosen as research base, carrying out robot teaching. I constantly reflect on my teaching, and continue to adjust and improve the teaching program. The rating scale was designed to evaluate the training effect of students’engineering thinking.Finally, it came into the conclusion that robot teaching has an important effect in promoting the students’ engineering thinking. Three recommendations were proposed in robot teaching in high school:First, selecting teaching project systematically. Second, organizing teaching content chose engineering thinking as the main line. Third, making "active" and "teaching" balanced.
