Nowadays,with the rapid development of science and technology,more and more talents are needed,and the requirements for talents are higher and higher.The cultivating of talents is also on the agenda.At present,China is in urgent need of many engineering talents,and pays attention to the cultivation of engineering talents.In the opinion on speeding up the construction and development of new engineering and implementing the education and training plan for outstanding engineers 2.0,it is clearly pointed out that the engineering thinking of engineering students should be focused on.In addition,the core quality of engineering thinking is added to the newly revised general technology curriculum standard for senior high schools for the first time.The cultivating of engineering talents has begun to shift from higher education to primary and secondary education.Engineering thinking is a kind of high-level thinking,which has been paid more and more attention.It is one of the necessary thinking for the future development of students.However,in primary and secondary education,the cultivation of engineering thinking is still in the exploration stage.STEM course,as a new course mode,enters the primary and secondary school classroom,which brings possibility to the cultivation of engineering thinking.Through the study of engineering thinking and STEM course,this study explores how to develop engineering thinking in STEM course.This study is carried out through literature research,action research,questionnaire survey and interview.Through literature research,this study analyzes the research status of engineering thinking,STEM courses and evaluation of engineering thinking at home and abroad.By combing the definition,characteristics and composition of engineering thinking and STEM,the relationship between engineering thinking and STEM course can be found.According to the cultivating methods of engineering thinking and how to carry out STEM course,the instructional model suitable for cultivating engineering thinking is selected,and based on this,the instructional model based on engineering thinking cultivating is constructed,and then the STEM course development is carried out.The course takes robot system as the main line of the course,which is divided into three parts and seven chapters.Then choose the experimental class to carry out specific teaching.Through the action research method,observe the students' performance,learning progress and work completion,form feedback according to these phenomena,reflect on the deficiencies in teaching and improve in the following courses.Finally,through questionnaire survey and interview,the former evaluates the development of students' engineering thinking quantitatively,and observes whether students' engineering thinking has been improved through learning STEM course,while the latter understands students' understanding of engineering thinking.After the completion of the above research work,the research conclusions are as follows: First,STEM course is suitable for cultivating engineering thinking of students.STEM courses include engineering,and engineering also needs the support of science,technology,mathematics and other disciplines,which is conducive to the cultivation of engineering thinking.Moreover,STEM education and engineering thinking have many similarities.Secondly,the model of cultivating engineering thinking in STEM course is constructed.The model is based on design-based learning model and combined with engineering activity flow.The model focuses on the practical problems and enables students to learn as engineers.Thirdly,the STEM course of cultivating engineering thinking is developed.The instructional design of the whole course is carried out according to the model to give students a complete experience of engineering activities.In the instructional activities,students are the center,let students lead the development of engineering activities,in order to promote their engineering thinking.Fourth,students' engineering thinking has been improved.Through twelve periods of teaching,students' engineering works have made great progress,and students have more understanding of engineering thinking.
