Oral reading is one of the language arts that translates silent language intosound language. It is our traditional teaching and learning method. Oral readingeducation uses reading as the Chinese language teaching method toimprove/cultivate students’ Chinese comprehensive accomplishment. Successful oralreading education will help deepen students’ understanding of literary work,enhance students’ capacity of language expression as well as writing ability andfurther improve their aesthetic level, aesthetic ability, literary accomplishment,humanistic quality, etc.But the education environment at present is test-oriented and utilitarian, highschool oral reading education is marginalized and hard to put into practice.Undefined teaching objectives, obscure teaching steps and the existence ofarbitrariness are big problems in oral reading education. What’s more, lack ofteachers’ instruction and specific evaluation, along with simple teaching method,make it even harder to practice oral reading education. Last but not least,multi-media tools are gradually replacing teachers’ model reading.The essay explores the theoretical principle of performing oral readingeducation, problems existed in high school oral reading education based on the basictheory of oral reading and mainly focuses on the practical strategies in high schoolChinese oral reading education. Following four parts are included.First,set a gradual teaching target for oral reading education referring tostudents’ varying levels, the current teaching stage and text style. Second, it isadvised that teachers grasp professional reading skills in order to give studentspractical reading guidance. In this way, students can better understand the contextand fly on the wings of imagination to read aloud in appropriate tones. Third, explorethe effective models of oral reading education---reading aloud to create contexts,saying out your problems, showing your oral reading to the class, and making asummary. Fourth, explore oral reading education in daily life situations---lifeexperience of preoperational stage of oral reading.
