Award is one of the most common school education methods, and it plays an important role in the growth process of children. Especially in recent years, with the continuous development of the educational theory and the push of the educational practice. The praises in classes or schools become common. Rewarding becomes a powerful way of teachers for teaching. However,it also brings some problems. The abuse of rewards and the damages which award brings to students have become an unavoidable theme. This article studies the awards in school education from the angle of morality.There is an phenomenon of abusing awards in the current school education. Too detailed institutional arrangements and rewarding forms floating on the surface make rewarding throughout all aspects of students’ school lives.There must be some reasons behind the phenomenon. Why reward flooding phenomenon appears in today’s school education? This article attempts to analysis and discourse the reasons of awarding abuse from two aspects, which the support educational theory and the encouragement of awards’ usefulness.The using and abusing of rewards have produced serious moral consequences. The free of children as independent individual suffers some restrictions. The relationship with the surrounding students becomes strained. Children’ personality also produces some alienation.How to grasp the limitation and the validity of award becomes a problem which education researchers need to solve. Awarding should respects children’ subjectivity. The use of awards should focus on the effectiveness. Award should avoid bringing the moral harm to children.The purpose of education is to bring up independent and free individual. As one of the methods of school education, award should be committed to helping achieve the real purpose of education and promoting the healthy development of children,but can not become an accessory of controlling.
