Hui Traditional Morality And Moral Education Of Hui Students

It is an integrated part of nowadays national morality education to strengthen morality education on hui college students. But it has not paid enough attention to yet by the academic circles how to carry forward the moral education to the Hui monirity college students. Under the influence of historical and cultural tradition, the moral culture of Hui college students presents diversity.In addition to the influence from the main social ideology and morality, national religious morality cannot be underestimated. To hui people, it is Islamic and its morality that give considerable influence on them. So its particularity and specific characteristics should be given enough attention. However, for a long time, the social and educational workers have not paid enough attention to the morality diversity of hui college students. We almost have done nothing on the modernization of the traditional morality values of hui minority, nor grasped it, nor made full use of its values. As a result, the effectiveness of moral education to 昲ui colleges has been held up.By combing the traditional morality of hui minority, by discussing and analyzing its adaptation to socialistic morality in the socialistic society, by probing into and find out an effective way of how to carry out the traditional morality in college morality education in a localminority area, the article attempts to provide a pattern for hui college students in their morality education. -The whole article consists of three parts. The first part expounds the forming and development of the traditional morality of hui minority, particularly in the periods of feudalism, modern China, and the People's Republic of China. Based on it, the article summarizes the three major features of hui traditional morality: deep influence from Islam, deep influence from traditional Chinese (han) culture and deep influence from its special ethnic ethic .The second part analyzes the adaptation of traditional hui morality to socialistic society. It expounds the adaptation, first from the class of morality and historical inheritance, secondly from religious morality and lastly from the modern values of traditional hui morality. Moral standards and forms don't come from emptiness but come from tradition morality and attach to certain social politics and economy. No exception to socialism. There are limits in religious morality, but under certain social conditions, religion morality can give positive influence on moral education. So we should make use of it. There are modern values existing in the traditional hui morality. The article analyses the modern values in traditional hui minority from the views of religion, form and pattern.The third part is about how to carry out the traditional hui morality in the moral education on hui college students. The article holdsthe idea that only after realizing the modernization of the traditional hui morality, can it be used comprehensively, can it be put into the moral education for the hui college students at local hui minority area.To sum up, the article puts forth four ways to carry this out: a) to respect the reality, admit the difference, keep an open mind; b) to pay more attention to the Islamic culture in the moral education for hui college students; c) to establish systems or organizatins to settle moral conflict; d) strengthen the teachers' learning and cultivation of the history and the culture of the Hui minority at the hui minority living area.
