Luonan County "compulsory Education" Junior High School Students Drop Out Of School After The Investigation Of The Problem

The present article studies the present situation, causes,characteristics and bad influence of the dropping-out in middleschoolsof Luonan county Shaanxi province, after the policy, "Makenine-yearcompulsory education universal" , was adopted. The article also mentionssome measures to control the dropping-out. From the investigation,we can get the following. Poverty is the direct cause, while the main causeis that most of the dropouts are tired of schooling. And also someother disadvantageous factors make the rate of dropping-out increasing. Forexanple, some schools put undue emphasis on forcing students to achievegood marks. The dropouts are mainly boys, the students of Junior 2, thestudents who cannot be up to the basic teaching standards, and those wholive in mountainous areas and those whose parents lack education.Thedropping-out not only is a waste of educational resources, but has badeffects on the development of economy and the steady society. Some measuresshould be taken to control and reduce the rate of dropping-out. Thegovernment should enforce the law, assume responsibility, increaseinvestment, change the opinions of education, improve the teachers'quality and help the poor students.
