Cultivating the mathematical ability of higher students has essential realistic meanings to develop their applicational sense, change severe disjoint between learning and real world, and to give students a full "maths activity". It means that students can use their mastered thoughts, ways and knowledge to solve simple problems in life, and to find their own knowledge structure logically. In detail, it can be divided into two levels, horizontal and vertical maths. Based on the investigation of current students' mathematical ability, the author tries to find the horizontal content: using mathematical way to organize text books, solving life and relevant subjects problems, etc. The vertical one includes: improving the "CPFS" and the discerning structure, establishing network of chapters and so on. The author also applies behavior research strategy to conduct one year's teaching experiment pointing to above factors. The author tries to learn the whole process of solving applicational problems by talking with students and check the effect of the teaching experiment by testing. In the end, the author also gives some suggestions: creating circum stances, stimulating personal sense of students, enhancing reading ability, exercising the translation ability of maths language, emphasizing extracting main relations, strengthening summary ability, cultivating the consideration habit and cooperative sense after solving problems, etc.
