Academic corruption is defined in this paper as the behavior of those people who, with academic or administrative power, abuse their power so as to enrich private interest or group interest. It is therefore "power abuse for interest" in nature with such characteristics as clear restriction in certain fields, enlistment for interest in purpose and concealment in behavior. Thus defined, it enables people to attack and frustrate academic corruption in a more effective way by distinguishing academic corruption from general breach of academic morality. It is reasonable we focus on higher institutions because academic corruption often occurs there on various occasions as project application, academic achievements publication, professional promotion, and approval for scholarship degree. It is believed the abuse of academic power in universities and the weakness of academic system are the direct cause of the academic corruption, while inclination of the academic aim and lose of academic morality may constitute the internal cause of this phenomenon. Altogether, academic corruption in higher institutes harms the minds of students, ruins the reputation of universities, and denigrate the holy academic field as a whole. It has badly effected our social civilization and the normal development.Based on these arguments, the thesis discusses possible measurements to prevent academic corruption by strengthening the educational ideology of "all for people", intensifying the academic system, advocating the academic morality, and practicing university autonomy.
