The learning style,brought forward for the first time in 1954 by a USA scholar named Herbert Thelen, has become a crucial subject and it is concerned and study colligated with instructional psychology, learning theory,general didactics for many years. It is considered as "the real basis of modern teaching". It's study just from theoretical and application instead of comprehensive and systematical research in our country. Lamentedly, the current investigations and discussions mainly focus on the individual elements and types of learning styles in theory more than in empirical research. This thesis expatiates a relatively systematic theory on learning styles, which is connected with high school chemistry teaching practice. The thesis discusses the learning styles in many different phases of chemistry learning as well as the students'learning behavior and strategies. At the same time, it explores the teaching strategies to students who have different learning styles.The thesis is divided into 7 parts. i.e.a) The first part mainly talks about the significance of the research of learning styles and the current research in China and abroad as well.b) The second part mainly talks about the theoretical overview about learning styles, including the connotative meaning, features, elements and types.c) The third part introduces the current distribution of high school student's learning styles with the help of questionnaires.d) The fourth part is mostly about the learning styles associated with the different processes in chemistry learning. It also talks about the learning behavior and strategies of students who have different learning styles.e) In the fifth part, the theory is actually put into practice. The theory brings forward the teaching strategies and the ways of teaching organization based on the students learning styles.f) In the sixth and seventh parts, it analysises and rethinks the outcome of this application.The demonstration of teaching chemistry based on the theory of learning styles heightens the consciousness of students, with which they are able to master the strategies of learning. It also improves their efficiency of learning. Because of this, the interest in learning chemistry increases. There is also a substantial increment in their marks. It plays an inspiring role in encouraging the students to master the knowledge of chemistry.
