Purpose The main characteristics of modern volleyball training are to make training plans tailored to the necessity of specialized competition. This research starts with the tactic exertion in actual international high level women's volleyball competition. Aims to study 140 international events from 2003 to 2005, hopes to provide relevant statistics for coaches to decide the training time and density. Methods 1. Literature reference method: consulting lots of dissertations, monograph and information from internet which are relevant to this research. 2. Technical statistics method: classifying the time, game, point of the game; designing the technical statistics graph and analyze the tactic applied in the event. 3. Numerical statistics method: proving all the statistics appearing in this dissertation by calculating mean value, standard deviation, percentage with the help of EXCEL and SPSS12.0 software; analyzing these statistics according to the need of research and training practice. Results 1: Three sets making up a game is the important components of the events, which accounts for 62% of the total number of game. In average, one game costs one and a half hours; one game consists of 156 points.2: The points first-attack gained or lost accounts for nearly 50% of the whole games, and that of defense-attack accounts for nearly 20%.3: Different function players have their own specialties, which reflects from their tactic exertion in the competition.Suggestion 1. The general characteristics of the game structure offer reference for arranging and controlling the training time and density. 2. Reasonably design the ratio of training the first-attack and defense-attack according to the position of scoring and losing points in the whole event. 3. Strictly control the amount of tactic exercise and the ratio of other exercises according to the technology load models for different function players. 4. Enhance the quality of technology according to the technology load models for different function players; reasonably and economically design the content and load capacity of technoloyg training based on characteristics of athletes and their functional need.
