Modern Track And Field Competition And The Evolution Of The Rules

Track and field events are major component of athletics and related regulations are guarantee for the normal development proceeding of track and field events. Together they facilitate the development of athletics. Athletic and regulations are influenced by political, economic, scientific, technological, sports technique, commercial and media factors. Among them, the dominating factors change with time endowing track and field events and rules with social and epochal characteristics. Using research methods such as literature searching, experts interviewing and logical analysis, this thesis explores and analysis the factors which are working on track and field events and regulations by studying the development of track and field events and related regulations. The purpose is to reveal the evolutional rules and developmental drive of track and field events and regulations, generalize the basic patterns of the evolution of them and sum up their developing trend.This thesis fall into 4 parts: 1, Summarized the origin and evolution process of track and field events and regulations; 2, Analyze the related factors; 3, Generalize the basic patterns of their revolution; 4, Summarize their developing process and trend. Based on these analysis these conclusions are drawn to: a peaceful political environment is the precondition for development, sustained and stable economic environment is the basis of development, ever-improving science and technology are the driving force behind development; marketization and media participation is necessary for adjusting to social development while the institution of officials and referees and continuous improvement of judging methods reflect the trend of track and field events and regulations' development. Against a peaceful political background, the development of competition and related regulations is consistent with the need of society. We should put people first, aim at globalization, guide the rational development of track and field events by standardizing their organization, detailing their regulations and intensify anti-doping efforts. The development of modern track and field events and related regulations requires: preventing over-commercialization, more cultural identification with athletics, more international athletics games in Asia, Africa and Latin America, introducing athletic events suitable for different people and enacting relevant regulations, directing athletic competitions' advance with the times through modifying competition plan and perfecting regulations.
