David. P. Ausubel, a famous American psychologist, pointed out that the most important factor that affects study is what learners have known. Therefore, before teaching, teachers should know what preconceptions students have. At present, reform on classroom teaching in middle school in China are being carried out. According to the new curriculum reform theory, teachers should concentrate on elementary knowledge and skills. At the same time, they ought to pay close attention to preconceptions and the process of constructing physics concepts. During the period, students can experience joy when they acquire knowledge by themselves and master scientific methods. As a matter of fact, students have had more or less conceptions before they start to learn new knowledge. Some of the preconceptions are beneficial to studying new concepts. However, some of them are wrong. Different teaching strategies can help students to realize them and correct them actively. Considering the comparative gap in the preconception of electric field and the difficulty of it in teaching, I select the concept of electric field to be my subject of research. The following are what I have done.(1)I refer to related theoretical documents, search for related theoretical basis and put forward some teaching strategies to promote conceptual change.(2) I chose two classes in our school to do the research on preconception and then carry out different teaching strategies separately. At last, the students took exams. I make a comparison between the two classes and analyze the results.(3)A summary is made. As the research shows, students have had some preconceptions before they begin to learn electric field. Some preconceptions are good for study and some are wrong. After related teaching strategies are conducted, remarkable success have been achieved on changing wrong preconceptions and forming a new concept system.
