Youth Filial Piety Education Research

Since young students are the builders and successors of our socialism undertakings, their moral values and their level of moral maturity directly affect the development and stability of our nation. Filial piety, is the key component of moral education, also the basis and premise of other moral characters. Only "extending your respect for your aged parents to all the aged, and extending your love for your own children to all children", then other social moral values can be derived from.This article analyzes the in-depth reasons for teenagers' absence of filial piety from the viewpoints of society, schools, families and students themselves, with illustrations showing the current moral values held by the teen students in our nation. Filial piety, as the continuation of Chinese ancient culture and one of the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, not only means the filial behaviors to the elders in families, but also has many social effects. On the basis of extending the filial piety theory of Confucianism since the time of Confucius and Mencius, the analysis on the historical origin, development course and duality of filial piety, will favor the critical inheritance of filial piety, in order to better serve the socialist modernization and the socialist ideological and ethical progress. The research will strengthen the theoretical understanding, and have more realistic significance for the society. On the more, during the general research on the evolution of filial piety, this article pays more attention to the result and development of domestic and overseas researches on filial piety, with emphasis on the realistic significance– how to put the education of filial piety into practice. The author expects to explore a feasible way to develop the education of filial piety, especially the ideological and moral education for the young students in our nation, through the exposition and analysis in this article.
