The thesis mainly researches French girls'school education and religious education in the 19th century, and reflects the situation and progresses of French girls'education. The thesis is made up of three chapters as the followings:Chapter one makes an inquiry into the situation and thoughts of French girls'education before the 19th century. France is a country which pays attention to female education. Before the 19th, a lot of educational thinkers propagandized the thoughts of female education, such as FĂ©nelon and Rousseau. There were also some denominations that set up the schools for girls.After the French revolution, the government posed and promulgated a series of bills, regulating the establishment of girls'schools, curriculums and so on. These acts are worth to be approved. Chapter two emphasizes the French girls'schooling in the 19th century. The 19th century is an important transition period in the history of French girls'education. In this period, the situation of girls'education was better than before. Government promulgated a series of laws concerning female elementary education, secondary education and normal education, and regulated the establishment conditions, teaching contents, hours and the duration of the study. Its'objective was to change the unequal right in education. The implementations of these laws had large impacts on female education. And with the development of girls'education, women teachers were paid more attention, and their position and salary were raised.Chapter three studies the French girls'religious education in the 19th century. For a long time, religious education occupied a dominant position in girls'education. Since Napoleon, a lot of religion groups were approved to be engaged in girls'education, and Napoleon pointed out that religion was the first in girls'schools. Because religion dominated women's thoughts, the country gradually realized its disadvantages, and began separated religion and schools. Finally, religion had not been taught in schools.In conclusion, the development of French girls'education in the 19th century was rapid. Meanwhile, it brought benefits for women from different respects, and that was also good for social balance.
