As the parenting of children, the grandparents'upbringing of children is the other major form of family education. It was reported in 2004 that the results of a nationwide survey about grandparents-upbringing showed that in China almost half of children were living with their grandparents by China Newsweek. There is a widespread phenomenon of skip-a-generation in China. And few countries like China. In recent years, more and more investigation reports have demonstrated that the grandparents'upbringing of children had a negative impact on these grandchildren, particularly in social development. The research assessed the relationship of grandparents-grandchildren and children's social competence, then analyzed and discussed the correlation of these two aspects in order to get a lot of inspiration on the grandparents'upbringing of children. The research can be divided into five chapters: introduction, research design and process, data analysis and results, discussion, and conclusion.Through analysis of relevant data, the main conclusions are obtained as follows:Firstly, by means of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), the research explored and got the six dimensions of the relationship of grandparents-grandchildren evaluation system. They are Intimacy, Direction-Sharing, Avoidance, Conflict- Restriction, Affirmation and Satisfaction.Secondly, by means of Independent dual-sample T test or One-way ANOVA, the research analyzed the differences among assoeted groups of grandparents-samples. The research indicated that significant difference in the relationships of grandparents-grandchildren was brought on by the age of grandparents, the obligation of upbringing, the economic input, the amount of accompanying time and the form of interaction.Thirdly, the exploration of correlativity found that the positive correlation was shown between the relationships of grandparents-grandchildren and grandchildren's social competence. The results of Regression Analysis presented that the Intimacy and Direction-Sharing of the relationships of grandparents-grandchildren had a significantly positive effect on the grandchildren's social competence. In addition, the Avoidance and Conflict-Restriction had a significantly negative effect on the grandchildren's social competence.Fourthly, the further test showed that the positive correlation was shown between the relationships of grandparents-grandchildren and the level of peer interaction including the quality of freedom events and the level of social skills. And the Intimacy, Direction-Sharing and Satisfaction of the relationships of grandparents-grandchildren had more close contact with the level of peer interaction.Fifthly, through the data analysis and the grandparents'interview, we found that the intimacy and profuse forms of interactions between grandparents and grandchildren were in favor of the development of grandchildren's social competence. However, the monotonous images of grandparents and the over-constrained behaviors were not conducive to the development of grandchildren's social competence.Sixthly, through the research, the grandparents'taking advantages of their rich experience, clearing their location in the family, recognizing the grandchildren's needs correctly in the daily life, creating the active surroundings for grandchildren, and attaching importance to the interactions with grandchildren were brought to light. Meanwhile, the grandparents'neglecting psychological support to the grandchildren and not using the scientific development perspective on the development of grandchildren were revealed by the study. The six grandparents in the interviews are aware of their strengths and weak in the upbringing, and they hope to obtain scientific guidance and social supports.
