A study on correlation between home literacy environment and prereading skills of 5-6-year-old children was carried out. Considerable research shows correlation between home literacy environment in early childhood and prereading skills, but there were few studies on this topic in our country. In this paper, the researcher adopted measurement tools of prereading skills and the questionnaire of home literacy environment developed by the author to check 64 5-6-year-old children and 58 parents. The measurement tools of prereading skills have eight aspects, including tests of phonological awareness, syntactic awareness, phonological memory, working memory, rapid naming, vocabulary, sentence understanding, visual sense skill; family literacy environment survey questionnaire have six factors, including parents attitude toward literacy, reading behavior of parents, the utilization of books, the achievement motivation of parents, parent-child reading strategies, the frequency of parent-child reading. The results showed that there is different degree correlation among the eight aspects of prereading skills. There is significant correlation between some factors of home literacy environment and prereading skills. |
