With the development of the Internet and gaming technology, more and more college students become massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) players. Identity has been expanded as much as possible on the Internet. Playing has some influence on the self awareness and remodeling process of the players' self-concept. This study concerns the issue that was there a deep association between the performance of avatar in the game situations and the attitudes and behavior of player in the real world.Questionnaire was used in this study. And the data processing used correlate analysis, variance analysis, multiple regression, and so on. The conclusions are as following. The player subject possessed positively actual self-concept and higher ideal self-concept. To a certain degree there were some discrepancies between actual self and ideal self. The discrepancies varied in degrees and ranks from the large to small:charming self-concept, academic self-concept, interpersonal self-concept and moral self-concept. The subjects' scores significantly differed on several dimensions of self-concept according to different grade, study field and playing time. In the game situation, the players' scores of game charming, game ethic and organizational interaction were significantly different according to different grade, study field and playing time, but the differences on game interpersonal interaction and game achievement are not found. The performance of avatars on charming, interpersonal interaction, and game ethic significantly relate to corresponding dimensions of self-concept, and also relate to self-discrepancy in a certain degree. Game achievement scores significantly relate to academic ideal self-concept and academic self-discrepancy. This study indicates that players' ideal self-concept has more influence on avatars' performance, and also shows that players compensate the self-discrepancy between ideal self-concept and actual self-concept in order to obtain psychological satisfaction.
