Marriage Ceremony In The Face Perspective Study

Mianz(ithe Face)culture, as a unique Chinese cultural and psychological phenomenon, is ubiquitous in Chinese daily life. From a sociological point of view, the symbolic significance of mianzi makes itself a symbol of resources. The mianzi-oriented conduct of Chinese people, which wide spreads and occur in every social stratum,means to obtain and show off mianzi they get from this behavior, therefore, the mianzi they get can strengthen the identity of themselves.Marriage ceremony, a very important ceremony in Chinese society, is a field and tool for social contacts of the people in certain social network, In this paper, I take the marriage ceremony of A City as a research platform of mianzi, on the basis of summarizing the mianzi and the marriage ceremony, from the meeting of the two, and then to do a in-depth and all-round analysis of marriage ceremony and further explored the mianzi-related conduct which extend from the marriage ceremony through the theories of sociology and consumer studies, therefore, this analysis give a full angle display of the illustration of the marriage ceremony of A city and the mianzi-oriented conduct, in addition, the factors cause the conduct, the features of these factors can be generalized as the conformity of forms, display of consumption, symbol of popularity, and hidden transaction.As a platform for contacts, the marriage ceremony of A city reflects the relationships and the way of interactive which based on mianzi in the reasonableness society of China. Therefore, this paper employs a qualitative analysis of the mianzi-conduct from three aspects, the regional culture of peasantry, the conspicuous mentality of consumption, and impact of social transformation of China, thus, proofing the basic characteristics of mianzi and interpersonal communication in China and illustrating the relation of mianzi, interpersonal relationship and personal social status, negative impact of social development and transformation. Therefore, we can realize the necessity and urgency of reconstruction of mianzi culture.
