With the rapid development of science and technology, embedded, networking, and computer technology is gradually in-depth in all areas of people's lives. Smart Home system begin to be accepted. In recent years, Along with the improvement of people's living standard, the pursuit of people's quality of life increase gradually, Traditional smart home system is not satisfied with people's needs.In terms of application, this paper analyses current problems and shortcomings of smart home system and then develop a new type of digital smart home systems with the Ministry of Science and Technology fund project-"smart home system and smart home controller". The newly Smart Home System not only has the video intercom, alarm, appliance control the three main functions but also has characteristics of fully digital design. The system merges GSM, Zigbee, RF wireless network and a wired LAN interconnection technology to meet various user needs.Controller is an important component of the smart home system. This paper analyzed its hardware structure implementation and software design. The system selects Linux kernel as the controller operating system, SQLite as its database, Qt/Embedded as its GUI systems. This paper implements the entire software system and database design. A number of Practical problems resolved during course of the implementation. Video intercom function uses the H.264/AVC video format with the features of high-quality, low-bit stream, suitable for network transmission. According the actual situation, this system design and implement a FIFO buffer, to receive video data and provide the video data for decoder. With the S3C6410 processor internal hardware decoding supporting, H.264/AVC video data decoded and display is implemented. Alarm and appliance control functions implement the character device driver to control startup and reset of gsm modem and Zigbee module. The connection between gsm modem and zigbee module is built through the processor's serial port. The System software uses Qt threads, Qt signal and slot mechanism to implement gsm modem and Zigbee module communication and achieve alarm and appliance control functions. This Paper analyses the security problems of Linux system, according to limited resources characteristics of embedded systems, current security modules of Linux Kernel and firewall technology confirm the system uses MOTOYO security module and install a software firewall to enhance system security.
