Nowadays, the increasing popularity of laptops and PDAs promote the fast development of short-rang wireless access technologies such as Bluetooth and WLAN. As the essential part of wireless communication systems, antennas are required to be more efficient, broadband and compact. Consequently, traditional whip antenna and helical antenna have gradually been replaced by compact built-in antennas. Integrated antenna not only has small size, light weight and stable characteristics, but also has the advantages of low cost. Therefore, it agrees well with the trend of wireless communication applications—light, thin and compact. Moreover, LTCC technology provides a powerful driving force for the development of integrated antennas. This paper is aiming at the problems from above, conducting a scientific research on novel miniaturized broadband integrated antennas for 5.8GHz band and millimeter -wave band RF front-end system applications. The main contents of the paper are:Chapter I is an introduction, an overview of the historical background, research progress, and development trend of integrated antennas and packaging technology. And describe the main work of this paper.Chapter II gives related theories of the miniaturized broadband integrated antenna technology.Chapter III describes the design of two integrated antennas based on LTCC for 5.8 GHz WLAN application, giving the detailed design process and measurement results of the proposed antennas in this paper.Chapter IV presents a millimeter wave ultra-wide band (UWB) tapered slot antenna based on a multilayer liquid crystal polymer (LCP) circuit process, providing the design and simulation results from electromagnetic simulation software.Chapter V presents full summary.
