The study of dreams is somewhat popular among researchers. Both western and Chi-nese acdemic researchers have made much progress on this subject. There was little progress made by ancient shcolars both home and abroad. They just found out that dreams came from human minds instead of oracles, and that some dreams were caused by illness etc.Modern researchers have made great progress on the study of dreams, especsally Freud, C. G. Jung and other ones. Their study enlightened the modern study of dreams. Some researchers are studying dreams through modern techndogy in lab. With the help of modern theories, I analysed carefully in the first place the dreams in T'ai-p'ing Kuang-chi, I found out that Chinese people in the Middle Ages were not gullible, dream superstition only shows that they wanted explanations, and sometimes peo-ple disguised their own purposes by dreams. The dream superstition affected all fields of people and all kinds of matters. Although some scholars worked out some scientific theo-ries about dreams, but they were too weak to change the superstitious world. Then I made further study and concluded that the dream superstition was amplified by some people who were either professional or mature in the non-scientific interpreta-tions of dreams, though some interpretations could sometimes comfort people. At last I revealed the reasons for the prevailing dream superstition, and I think that they apply to other sorts of superstitions. So many causes will make dream superstition ex-ist for a longer period of time.Although most dreams in T'ai-P'ing kuang-chi are not true ones, we can study the ancient Chinese customs, thoughts, culture and so on through them. The dreams, though, are unbelievable, there are somthing in them made people belive them.
