Image-based Information Hiding And Detection Technology

With the rapid development of information age, there are various multimedia information in the Internet. Owing to the rapid communication and convenience by internet, more and more people choose it to transfer messages. Thereby, requesting fairly high security in order to sending and putting out safely information for both individual person and government is important. Then the information security techniques are greatly demanded. The information security is involved in many fields. In this thesis, the main contents are steganography techniques, in which the static images are applied as carriers.The main contributions in the thesis are as follows.1. Beginning with hiding information technique, the category of hiding information, its characteristics and future development are introduced. The steganography methods include special domain and frequency domain, accordingly, they have respective advantages and disadvantages. According to common multimedia earners in the Internet, the static images are selected as stego carriers. At first, beginning with typical method in special domain LSB(Least Significant Bit), the relative tests are developed, and the reasonable results are obtained.2. Then, attack on steganography and steganalysis are described in detail. A statistical method, Chi-square test, is presented and the actual results arc obtained by experimenting. The method has practical value, without raw carrier, and the detecting result is quite good. But it requires strict carrier. At any rate, this method is a fairly applicable detection method.3. Finally, according to the demand of the research project, the steganography programs downloaded from internet are integrated to be a practical system. It has simple and perspicuous interface, easy to operate.
