WAP (the Wireless Application Protocol) is the inevitable development production of Internet and Telecommunication. The wireless-internet technology has been more popular and developed since WAP1.0 was published in 1998 by WAP Forum. But while contrasted to great success at business benifits and market occupancy of the other wireless-internet technology named iMode, WAP seems to be somewhat left behind. At this background, WAP Forum pulished a more competitive protocol in Aug 2001, that is WAP2.0.This dissertation introduces the architecture and protocol stack of WAP2.0. WAP2.0 is composed of the Application Framework and the Protocol Framwork, which respectively include some sub-protocols. With its layered architecture design and independence of each layer, WAP2.0 provides an extensible developing environment, which is quite flexible. Then according to R & D task of this project, the characteristics and mechanism of embedded real-time operation systems is introduced, which puts emphasis on the specific environment named DBTEL embedded read-time OS. Also, plant and development flow of the embedded system software is introduced. It accomplishes planting OPW WAP Edition 5.0 wireless browser after introducing its flow.On the next step, primary download technology is detailedly described. Not only web page, pictures as WBMP, GIF, JPEG are introduced, but alse those decoded codings are finished. As known from this dissertation, there are so many advantages at aspects of the memory usage, cross call functions, the coding criterion, the arithmetic efficiency that it has made good benefits for the company.
