Based On S3c2410 Smartphone System Design

Smartphone is also called multimedia cellphone. There're more Multimediaapplications in Smartphone than in traditional cellphone. It supplies not only basicfuction such as voice communication, but also other fuctions including PDA, MP3player, digital camera and video, video player and game.As 2.5G/3G mobile communication network come into operation, smartphonewhich support data and voice service will become a mainstream product in chinacellphone market soon. In the next few years, smartphone market will develop as fastas 40% per year. This market has great potential. Smartphone is the trend of cellphonedevelopment in the future.My work is to design a sample smartphone which support PDA, MP3 play,digital camera and video, video play, game, touch screen.This thesis discusses the design of smartphone from system level. First, itintroduces the architecture of smartphone, and then discusses hardware system designand gives more detail in realization of the main hardware modules which includeapplication processor, FLASH, Audio Codec, Power Management Chip, LCD and soon. Samsung's S3C2410 processor is used as application processor in the smartphonesystem. Linux is the operation system of the smartphone. Linux is widely used in theembedded system, because it's stable, high efficiency, easy to customize and cut, widehardware supporting and open source. How to design smartphone hardware systembase on S3C2410 is discussed in charpter 2. The design of smartphone software isdiscussed in charpter 3. Linux kernel and how to develop device drivers in linux areintroduced in this chapter, including the development of bootloader, Audio CodecDriver and LCD Driver of the smartphone. Hardware and software debugging of thesmartphone are discussed in the last charpter.
