Next Generation Network (NGN) is a service-focused, integrated and opening network architecture that can operate various services, which are voice, data and multimedia. Soft Switch that provides Real-time Services'calling and connection controls is the core technology of NGN, which is focus on calling and controls. Signaling Gateway (SG) is one of the important modules of Soft Switch architecture. This subject aims to design a system architecture model of SG that connects SS7 network and IP networks. This article focuses on the system architecture model of Signaling Gateway and the implementation of some primary software modules. Meanwhile, it introduces the hardware environment and the performance of SG. In the first several chapters of this paper, we introduce the function definition, background, developing status quo of Next Generation Network (NGN) at first. Then we introduce and analyze Soft Switch technology in detail, including its background, function definition, function model, networks architecture, and application models and developing status quo etc. We also introduce and analyze the correlative protocol stacks the subject involved in detail, such as SS7, SIGTRAN etc. In this part, we briefly introduce PSTN and SS7 networks, and the application models of SG in Soft Switch architecture. In the next part the job that writer had done in this subject should be presented. We introduce the system architecture model of SG, mainly focusing on software architecture model. In software model part, we introduce the function of each module and the implementation of several primary modules, including data structure, function flow chart etc. At last we briefly introduce the hardware environment.
