| Nowadays, as the rapid expanding of the Internet and the emergence of new network services, researchers concentrate on the dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology and switching-in-optical network. Aiming to solve the problem mentioned above,most of the new services are based on Internet Protocol (IP), so appears the IP over WDM network architecture. It can greatly improve the transmitting efficiency by leaving out the ATM and SDH layers of the network architecture. The developments of dense wavelength division multiplexing ( DWDM ) technology have made it possible to serve more than one hundred channels in a single optical fiber. But at the same time the performance of the optical network is limited by the switching technology. OBS (Optical Burst Switch) is a good way to realize the IP over WDM optical network. Our research, which is suppose to research OBS network key technology, is supported by the "National 863 Plan". This paper is mainly about the application of OBS edge node. Firstly , it introduces the superiority of OBS and accounts for the function of the core node and the edge node of OBS. Secondly, the key implemental methods of ingress edge node and the division of function module are discussed. Thirdly, it illustrates the implementation of the scheduling module in edge node with the Variable Ingress Serial Polling (VISP) algorithm. Finally, the design procedure of OBS edge node in the schematic and print circuit board (PCB) will be presented. The innovations of this paper are presented as follow: 1. General Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) is adopted in implementing OBS ingress edge node system. 2. An algorithm, by the name of VISP which is based upon ISP,is designed to achieve variable data scheduling. |
