| With the development of technology ,more and more appliances are available to families . But these appliances are usually limited in function without much sensitivity , adaptation or coordination to the surroundings . They can not sense the adjustment of the surroundings , nor can they enforce any task in accordance with other appliances without any interference , much less achieve the goal of automatic setting up of the device groups and their self-management,self-restoring and self disposition. To solve these problems, Microsoft presents its Upnp technology, HP and IBM present their Jetsend and Tspace technologies. Compared to the above ones, Sun's Jini technology is of tremendous advantages. Jini , which provides spontaneous dynamic service network, is a kind of dynamic distributied computing technology presented by sun on the basis of summarizing and analyzing the defects of other distributied computing technology. Jini has lots of advantageous working systems, for instance, information appliances developed on the basis of Jini are capable of dynamically finding, participating in the network and registering,and even serve other users or appliances. They can also dynamically locate and employ other devices or services in the network, coordinate them and achieve certain tasks. They can sense the adjustment of the surroundings tasks. They can sense the adjustment of the surroundings in the network, such as adding of a new device or removing of a device available. They can even set up groups of devices automatically and achieve the goal of self-management,self-restoring and self-disposition.Due to the potential market of information appliances and the advancement of Jini, lots of companies and institutes are engaged in the research and developing of appliances based on jini. Kodak's digital camera and Sony's notepad ,micro-disk,TV sets and DVD are all products based on Jini.The first chapter of this article deals with the problems existed in present appliances and the necessing of introducing Jini. Chapter two introduces the system and structure ,the ideas in designing and the core system and concepts of Jini ,for instance,the discovery and lookup protocol ,the lookup service,remote event , lease, proxy etc. Chapter three discusses some key technology used in information appliances based on Jini,i.e , Jini -based information appliances how to register dynamically in the network ,how to supervise the adjustment of situations of other devices in the network ,how to achieve the goal of self-managtment ,self-restoring and self-dispositions,and how to initiate Jini with different devices including function-ready ones and function-restricted ones. |
