| The project is to design an audio chip that fit in with Switching Equipment according to the system on a chip (SoC) methodology with Nios II IDE tool. And it would be implemented in Altera FPGA series of Cylcone. It provides up to 256 and more PCM links which conform to the ITU G711 protocol for the large-scale digital switching system and it also satisfies the service demands of telecommunication operators and multifunction platform that is general, reliable, easy to use and adjusting sub-processor system for digital switching equipments. The communications equipment provider faces double pressure of the market and cost. Under the situation, SoC (System on a Chip) technology becomes a better way with the developing of microelectronics and computer technology. All factors including reliability, power consumption, low-cost of electronic circuits design are well considered in a single chip of SoC system. It can make enterprise concentrate on improving their level of applications and solving a great deal of problems in research fields as well. SoC is one of the best choice of modern electronic system and a final goal of switching equipment, exchange route equipment, mobile communications, digital TV, multimedia, and so on.In the project described here, the author tries to integrate many IP modules containing specific functions and correlation parameter description into a system on a programmable system (SOPC) with different design-tools of Altera Corporation and other companies. Some of these modules have been designed and simulated before the system was integrated. The methods of reusing these modules in the system or other system called IP Reuse. The important tasks of this project are to apply Nios II soft core, and designs of SDRAM controller module, sharing mailbox module, special communicating protocol, audio-converter, and so on. The "design-revise-design" method of screwed type was used during the whole work to guarantee IP stability and system testability in the SOPC system integrating process. The Design is successful through a set of processes like simulation etc. It was... |
