In this thesis, we employ the theory and method of modern control to investigate the problem of dynamic equipment maintenance and renovation for the model of single equipment maintenance and renovation. We have synthesized the economic index and reliability index, in order to maximize the contribution of the equipment during its using period. Based on it, we use the Pontryain principle to obtain both the optimal trajectory and optimal control law. Numerical examples are also presented to show the effectiveness of the method. In this thesis, we assume that the life distribution satisfying the exponential distribution and Weibull distribution.Besides, we also discuss the problem of preventive maintenance. The finite period preventive maintenance model is discussed. We find that the existing method only consider the full preventive maintenance period and full maintenance time, however, neglect the residual time. Therefore, we build the analytical model of preventive maintenance policy in finite period, and induce the dynamic relation between failure rate and preventive maintenance effect by using hazard rate. Under the assumption that the hazard rate satisfies the Weibull distribution, we discuss the minimum maintenance rate and preventive maintenance period to get the minimum maintenance cost for single equipment through simulation. Furthermore, we investigate the optimal problem considering both the minimum maintenance cost and the reliability constraint, to get the optimal maintenance rate and preventive maintenance period.
